44871 from the seaward side looking back into the mountains, this resulted in reasonable light as opposed to full sun, but no exhaust as the driver opened the loco up at the tunnel immediately after the viaduct. Finally I returned that afternoon, as the weather was somewhat better than forecast, for No. 45407 working across the viaduct (they don't always do so as you may have noticed), reasonable happy with that one. A couple of days later I tried again, with the morning train having the light on the landward side I positioned the aircraft looking out towards the sea, reasonable light and No. I don't normally go for tender first shots, but this side on one is quite acceptable to my eye. I then waited a short while for the morning train to be heading back towards Fort William tender first, well as is often the case I got this one in full sun.

The first was greeted by the light dipping and the train running a few minutes ahead of schedule just as I was deciding on my composition with the drone, so I ended up with an ok shot, but not what I really had in mind. Last year I failed to get a worthwhile shot of this location, so trying again this year I made 4 attempts to capture a decent shot when the light was quite reasonable or had the potential to deliver a "full sun" shot. This being Loch Nan Uamh viaduct along the coastal section at the bottom of the famous Beasdale bank. Whilst in the West Highlands covering the Jacobite steam services, there is one particular location that I wanted to capture from the drone. #lyntonandbarnstaplerailway #lyn #lyd #woodybay #exmoor #narrowgauge #heritagerecreation #heritagerailway #gallery #prints #britainonview #capturingbritain #picturesque #picture_earth #earthpıx #cheddargallery #artistinresidence #beautifulbritain. Lets all hope the railway get full planning permission for their planned extension in the near future, more locations like this are very desirable to recreate the long lost Lynton & Barnstaple line. "Lyd" was making a another visit to the line that it was designed for from its regular home on the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways in North Wales, Whilst "Lyn" is the more recently completed home based engine. In these two images we see the two replica L&B locos "Lyd" and "Lyn" approaching the superbly restored station at Woody Bay with our charter. Thank you to our charter organiser David Williams.

A very windy day, but we still managed to get some decent shots with a little thought and effort. Nonetheless, I attended a photo charter at the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway at Woody Bay on Exmoor earlier this week. Its been a busy couple of weeks so I haven't managed to process any new images, let along post any on social media.
